The internal affair Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, says he is keen on increasing staff at the immigration directorate to help meet the client demands.
Rugunda says that with globalization, it is becoming increasingly important for the immigration departments to ensure that the department's policies, operations, and structures remain mission-focused and well-aligned to meet evolving threats.
During the inauguration of the new immigrations board yesterday, Rugunda said that with increased staff, the directorate would be able to boost its overall preparedness, strengthen border security and maximize performance.

The Immigrations department spokesperson, Eunice Kisembo, says the directorate is currently comprised of 120 staffs.
She says there is need for an additional 300 staffs to meet the increasing demands especially at the border posts, and at Entebbe international airport.
