Two local administration police constables attached to Abako sub-county headquarters in Lira district, have been arrested for the alleged theft of borehole pipes.
The area LC III chairperson, Bernard Angol has identified the two suspects as Bonny Okabo, and Tito Aleko.
According to Angol, the two stole more than 20 borehole pipes which were donated to the sub county by the International Rescue Committee. The pipes were meant for fixing broken boreholes in the area.
Angol described the action by the two police constables as unethical.
The District Police Commander, Raymond Otim, says the duo is being detained pending investigation into the matter. He warned that the constables would face severe punishment if found guilty.
