Six people were killed, and six others injured in a tribal clash over a dam in Moroto district.
The Third Division Commander, Col. Patrick Kankiriho, says Thursday's fighting was sparked off by a group of Jie warriors who crossed into Panyangara Sub County in Moroto district and attacked the Bokora who had taken their animals to drink water from Longerepi dam.
Kankiriho says the Bokora in turn mobilized and engaged the Jie in several skirmishes, leaving six people dead and six others critically injured.
The injured were rushed to Matany missionary hospital.
The Army, using attack choppers managed to quell the fight and also recovered 500 heads of cattle from the fleeing warriors.
In a related development, Kankiriho says the army yesterday recovered heavy artillery weapons from a suspected hide-out in the out skirts of Moroto town.
The weapons recovered include a Rocket Propel Grenade launcher, 10 sub machine guns and 77 pairs of army uniform.
