Members of Teso-Karamoja Peace Initiative (TEKWIP) have invited widows in Karamoja to Teso to cultivate crops there.
TEKWIP Vice Chairperson, Florence Adongo, says the invitation is in response to the constant marginalization faced by widows in Karamoja.
Adongo says Widows in Karamoja are looked at as a curse to the community and left in isolation to fend for their families.

In Karamoja, women and youth are often excluded from decision making processes which leave them feeling inferior without self-confidence. Women's voice are not heard or respected even when making decision on issues that affect them.
Adongo says that her organization is ready to help the women realize their full potential in the development of the societies they live in.
