Besigye's Brother Applies for Bail

News
Musasizi Kifefe, a brother to Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party President, Dr. Kizza Besigye, has applied for bail before the High Court in Kampala, to allow him go abroad for medical treatment.
Kifefe was last month admitted to Mulago Hospital ago suffering from liver and kidney complications.
According to Kifefe's Lawyer, Yusuf Nsibambi, Kifefe's application for bail is based on grounds that he is suffering from a grave illness and that need special medical attention. He says that the facilities at Luzira Prison and Mulago Hospital cannot handle the magnitude of Kifefe's illness.
Kifefe first complained of health complications while in detention at Nyamushekyera government prison in Bushenyi. He told journalists in Bushenyi that his health began to deteriorate after he and his co-accused where beaten up by security operatives at the High Court in Kampala during the now-infamous siege of the court on March 1st.
Nsibambi says that his client should be granted bail because it is a constitutional right.
Meanwhile, the authorities at Mulago Hospital have denied Kifefe's Lawyers access to the medical report on the investigations so far carried out on their client. Nsibambi says that they have been asked to seek consent of the Solicitor General, before they can access the report.
Kifefe has been in jail for the past three years despite being grated bail by the High Court. Together with his brother Besigye, he is accused of a range of crimes including terrorism and treason. He and two other suspected members of the rebel People's Redemption Army are also facing murder charges.
