Police in Masaka have arrested four fishermen from Namirembe landing site in Bukakata Sub County, for alleged murder.
The suspects, Pascal Kavuma, Bat Kabuubi, Peter Ssegawa and John Bosco Nsamba are alleged to have killed a barmaid on Tuesday night.
The Masaka acting District Police Commander, Alex Muhumuza, says Barbra Nabulya, a barmaid at Namirembe Landing site, was attacked and killed, shortly after one of the suspects, Paschal Kavuma, found Nabulya with another man.
Kavuma claimed that Nabulya was his lover and was enraged when he found the woman with another man, sparking off a brawl between the two men and the woman.
Muhumuza says that at the height of the brawl, four fishermen pounced on Nabulya and beat her up until she lay unconscious. The suspects tried to escape but were arrested by residents and handed over to Police.
The suspects are currently detained at Masaka Police station and will appear in court shortly to answer murder charges.
