The Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura has halted the demolition of Nakasero market stalls and lock-ups.
Kayihura arrived on the scene late Friday afternoon in an emotionally charged state. He was surprised that police had not acted to stop the mayhem at the market.
He immediately ordered the arrest of the private bodyguards (Kanyama) who presided over the demolition.
The police boss tells Nakasero vendors and tenants that the 49 year lease offered to Hassan Bassajabalaba by KCC is null and void.
