A moment of high drama engulfed the Magistrates court in Mukono when a woman charged with manslaughter, fell flat and prostrated before the chief magistrate pleading for mercy.
Andra Dorothy, a resident of Bugoba zone in Seeta was found guilty of killing her husband, Kalo Matiya, and sent to jail for manslaughter.
Court heard that in April, Andra and her husband picked a quarrel after he accused her of adultery. Incensed by the label, Andra picked a knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach.
The man later died of excessive bleeding, while he was being rushed to the hospital.
The chief magistrate, Elizabeth Kabanda, ruled that Andra should serve a three-year jail sentence for manslaughter.
Visibly shaken by the ruling, Andra burst into tears and prostrated before the chief magistrate pleading for mercy.
Her pleas for mercy were however rejected, and the Magistrate immediately ordered the prison wardens to take her to prison.
