Kibaale Police on the Alert Ahead of NRM Polls

Election
Police in Kibaale district are on the alert ahead of the November 30 National Resistance Movement LC5 elections.

The Midwestern Regional Police Commander, Francis Tumushabe, said police is ready to quell any chaos that may break out during the polls.

He said police doesn't want to see a repeat of the 2001 elections in which fighting between the Banyoro and the migrant Bakiga characterized the vote.

5 people have so far shown interest in contesting for the NRM Kibaale LC5 post.

Early this month, NRM primary elections in Buliisa County in Masindi district were canceled because of unresolved conflicts between the Banyoro and the Alur.
