Students at Moyo senior secondary school turned rowdy, after they lost their trophy to Metu senior secondary school, in the just concluded two-day District Athletics Competitions.

The students accused the referees of manipulating their scores in favour of Metu secondary school.

Angered by the results, the students returned to school furious and immediately hatched a plot to avenge their loss. The students planned to stage riots, but their plans were short-lived.

Last week, five students of Itula Secondary School, in Moyo district were shot and injured, by a special police constable following a strike at the school.

The strike was sparked off by a disagreement between the Christian and Muslim students at the school.

The Christians accused the Muslims of demanding the destruction of the kitchen utensils, claiming that they were un-clean since they were used to cook meat from a goat slaughtered by a non-Muslim.
