Two Thugs Shot Dead in Mbale

Crime
Police in Mbale yesterday shot dead two suspected armed thugs during an exchange of gunfire.

The Mbale District Police Commander, Abbey Kisubi, says police acting on a tip-off engaged a group of thugs who had put up an illegal roadblock along Mbale-Tororo highway killing two instantly.

Kisubi identifies the dead as Asuman Okiror a bricklayer of Kamus village in Bukedea district and Charles Ochwo of Busia town.

He says police recovered two guns from the thugs one of which was robbed from a security guard during an attack on a petrol station in Budaka district early this month.

Kisubi suspect the dead thugs to be part of a gang that has been terrorizing residents of Mbale.
