Kamwenge Hit by Rebel Scare

News
Reports of suspected rebels in parts of Kamwenge district is causing restlessness among the residents.
Suspicious gun wielding men in military attire have been sighted in Kyabandaara sub-county adjacent to Kibaale National Park.
Elijah Biryabarema, the Kamwenge Resident District Commissioner confirms the reports. Biryabarema says the men who reportedly spoke fluent Rutooro, Luganda and Runyankore languages asked for food from some homes and then left without hurting anyone.
He however says that it remains unclear whether the people sighted were rebel remnants of the Allied Democratic Forces, (ADF) or armed thugs.
The army's second division spokesperson Lt. Tabaro Kiconco could not be reached for a comment as his phone was off.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Father Anthony Kiiza, the Kamwenge parish priest remain unclear, three weeks after he went missing.
The 55-year old priest disappeared from a friend's house in Rweteera village near Fort portal.
The RDC says speculation is rife that the priest could have been duped into a multi-million fake dollar scam, which turned fraudulent. Speculation is also rife that the priest could have gone into hiding following a deal gone bad.
The RDC says police is investigating the matter.
