Two people have been murdered in Mataale Sub-County in Kibaale district over land conflict.
The dead have been identified as Alikanjero Besisira and Henry Baguma, both residents of Ngoma village in Kibaale.
The criminal investigations officer, Fred Mirondo, says Besisira has for long been wrangling over a boundary mark that seperated his piece of land from his neighbor's land, Vincent Kisembo.
On Saturday, Kisembo armed with a panga attacked and hacked Besisira to death. In another attack, another man identified as Raphael Sekateko, stormed Besisira's home and killed Henry Baguma, who was on a visit to the home.
Kisembo and Sekateko have reportedly gone into hiding, while police have arrested five people to help with the investigations.
Mirondo says that police in Mataale and Kisita sub counties have been put on the alert following an upsurge in land related conflicts.
