Kampala City businessman, Hassan Bassajabalaba, has said that Nakasero market still belongs to him legally and has threatened to evict the vendors if politicians don't stop provoking him.
Appearing before the commission of inquiry into the alleged mismanagement in the central division, Bassajabalaba described the acting town clerk, Ruth Kijambu, as a liar who is trying to portray him as a shoddy business man in order to protect her job.
Yesterday, Kijjambu told the commission that Bassajabalaba secretly transferred 1.2 billion shillings on the KCC account as balance for his 4 billion payments on Nakasero Sub lease.
Kijambu said that KCC refused to accept the payment because of the controversy surrounding the Nakasero sublease.
But Bassajabalaba produced documents from the office of the town clerk and that of finance acknowledging receipt of the payment for the Nakasero transactions.
He described Kijambu denial of the money as total rubbish.

Bassajabalaba also said that the current clashes between him, the local government minister Kahinda Otafire, Kampala City council and Nakasero vendors are being fanned by his rivals with in the ruling National Resistance movement.
Bassajabalaba told the commission that his NRM rivals led by the vice chairman Haji Moses Kigongo's wife Olive Kigongo are trying to tarnish his name in the eyes of President Yoweri Museveni and to destroy HABA group of companies which is his business empire.
Bassajabalaba said that Olive Kigongo connived with the vendors to misinform President Museveni about the situation in the market.
