The beheaded body of a man has been found dumped at Mpumudde Catholic Church in Lyantonde.
The dead man, identified as 26-year-old Mugisha Balyana, was hacked to death before he was beheaded and his tongue was cut out of his mouth.
Joseph Edopa, the Southern Regional criminal investigations officer, says Balyana was reported missing on Friday last week. His bicycle was found abandoned about 100 meters away from the suspected murder scene at Kabana trading center.
Edopa says Balyana's body was dragged from the murder scene and dumped at the church. He says the motive for the murder has not been established.
In Olwal Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Amuru district, it was not the beheaded body of man, but the decapitated carcasses of cattle that were found lying around their camp yesterday.
Camp residents say they were shocked by the bizarre crime and gruesome sight of the dead cattle. They say the incident was the result of a land wrangle between two families in Olwal.
The Amuru District Veterinary Officer, James Okwir, says he received an emergency call to assist in the treatment of the animals. He says some of the animals were far too injured to be saved.
