News
Zimbabwes'opposition Leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, will this evening meet Kiiza Besigye, the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), President.
Tsvangirai has been at the centre of opposition politics in Zimbabwe first as a Trade Union Activist and as a Presidential candidate fronted by his party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source in the Forum for Democratic Change party, said that Besigye and Tsvangarai will meet at 8:00pm at Shangai Restaurant in Kampala. The agenda of their meeting is however not yet clear.
The two opposition leaders have several similarities. Both have stood for presidency and lost the election.
Tsvangirai like Besigye has been jailed for treason charges and both men are outspoken leaders of the main opposition parties in their countries.
Tsvangirai is in Uganda on the invitation of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
Earlier in the day, Tsvangarai said that the relevance of the opposition in Africa can be enhanced through tolerance from the ruling parties.
