Swalleh Buga, the West Nile region Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) chairman is mobilizing voters in the region to sign a petition to recall the Arua Municipality Member of Parliament, Akbar Hussein Godi.
Godi who was elected into parliament on the FDC party ticket is being accused of acting in total disrepute of the FDC party principals and values.
Buga says that MP Godi has become a disgrace to the FDC party and the electorates have been forced to mobilize a iRemove Godi from Parliamenti Campaign. He says that Godi has on several occasions been cited in scandals, the recent of which he was accused of defiling a school girl. In addition, Godi is also accused of arrogance.
Buga says that he has already solicited 2,200 signatures from the voters in Arua and is targeting more than 6,000 signatures. He is also organizing a demonstration in Arua and Kampala to protest against Godi's actions.
Buga says his iRemove Godi Crusadei is being backed by the top FDC leadership at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
But Godi has described the campaign as baseless and hatched out of a personal vendetta.
Richard Balla, the Electoral Commission's District Registrar, says the law provides for the electorate to recall an MP. He however says that he has not yet learnt about plans to recall Godi from parliament.
The FDC spokesman, Wafula Oguttu, says the party is not yet aware of any plan to recall Godi.
