Cabinet has ordered for an official investigation into the circumstances under which huge amounts of money meant for CHOGM activities could have been siphoned off by unscrupulous people.
Speaking to Journalists in Kampala, the Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Nsaba Buturo, said that the order is in response to a separate cabinet meeting in which President Museveni, raised concerns about the misappropriation of CHOGM funds.
Unofficial figures indicate that more than 300 billion shillings could have been used during the one week event.
Buturo says that the president Museveni has directed all heads of departments and committees to account for the money that was allotted to them. He also says that CID has been directed to follow up the matter.
