Most political party branch offices in Bunyoro sub region are sinking into oblivion.
The main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) recently closed all its offices in Masindi, Hoima and Buliisa districts for failure to pay rent.
Francis Atugonza, the Hoima FDC chairman, and his Masindi counterpart, Isaac Kanyamu says, the party president Kiiza Besigye, cleared the rent arrears but ordered them to close office and concentrate on grass root mobilization.
In Kibaale, Ayebale Kanyarutokye, the FDC party chairman says his office has been surviving on the good will of the party members who have for the last one year been contributing towards rent payment. The office has also managed to install a fax machine and a fixed telephone line.
The Uganda People's Congress (UPC) party has also closed its only regional office in Kibaale.
The situation is not rosy either for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party offices in Masindi. Jacob Karubanga, the NRM Publicity Secretary says it hasn't been easy to run the party office on meager funding.
Kafeero Mukasa, an NRM party mobilizer in Hoima says the party executive members led by the District NRM party chairman, Henry Muganwa Kajura have deserted the office, despite the enormous amount of work that needs to be done.
