Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, has asked the Inspector General of Police to resign for unprofessional conduct.
Salaam Musumba, FDC's party vice president accuses Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura of turning the police force into the military wing of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Musumba says the FDC party considers Kayihura unfit to head the police force and want him to resign. She claims that Kayihura has on several occasions allowed supporters of NRM to use the police force to intimidate and arrest opposition supporters.
Musumba says during the Samia-bugwe north by- elections, Robinah Nabanja, the Busia District Resident District Commissioner, hijacked the police command and arrested several supporters of the opposition candidates.
Musumba wonders why the inspector general of police didn't stick to the promise he made saying that the police force will use the elections in Samia-Bugwe as a test of its professionalism.

But Judith Nabakooba, the Deputy Police Spokesperson, says the FDC is just blaming Kaihura to cover up for their loss in the elections.
Abdul Katuntu, the head of FDC complaints desk says the party may sue the RDC, if they gather substantive evidence to show that the RDC's actions influenced the outcome of the elections.
