The National Forestry Authority (NFA), has arrested 15 people for encroaching on Namanve forest.
The suspects were arrested on Thursday in a joint operation launched by police and Law enforcement officers from the National Forestry Authority.
According to Moses Watasa, the spokesperson National Forestry Authority, the suspects were found demarcating and selling plots of land in namanve central forest reserve in Kira town council, Wakiso district.
Watasa says that on interrogation, the suspects said that they were acting on behalf of King Ronald Mutebi ii of Buganda. The group was also found registering purported subjects of the king in the area to allocate them pieces of land in Kasokoso, Kityo and Bukasa villages.
But the BUGANDA LAND BOARD AND MINISTRY OF LANDS HAVE disassociated themselves from the activities of the suspects.
The suspects are being detained at Kira Road Police station pending an investigation into there activities.
