Army and Police Join Forces to Investigate Kasese Grenade Attack

Crime
The police and army have formed a joint taskforce to investigate a grenade blast at a bar in Kasese on Friday night.

The taskforce led by the 305th Alpine Brigade Commander Lt. Col. Jack Bakasumba will probe the attack on the small bar in Kinyamaseke Parish in Mukunyu Sub-County that occurred at about 11 p.m. One person, Kabugho Twaha, was seriously wounded in the grenade attack and is admitted in critical condition at Kagando Hospital. Ten other people who were in the bar at the time survived with minor injuries.

Lt. Peter Mugisa, spokesperson of the 305th Alpine Brigade, says army surveillance in Mukunyu has been increased since the grenade attack. The Second Division spokesperson, Lt. Kiconco Tabaro, does not disclose any further details regarding the blast, saying only that intelligence operatives and the police are on the ground to find the perpetrator of the attack.

Tabaro says it is likely that Kasese is seeing the return of urban terrorism committed by the rebel Allied Democratic Force
