A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to death for the Murder of Boney Zziwa, who was a district police commander for Nebbi district.
Felix Alworonga was found guilty of conniving with some other assailants still at large to murder the DPC.
Anguzu Lino, the lead prosecutor told the High Court in Arua presided over by Justice Justine Kania that Zziwa was brutally murdered on 23rd December 2005, and his body was found in a pool of blood, 50 meters from Nebbi police station.
Anguzu told court that the accused had been a fugitive who twice escaped from Arua prison and in each attempt he was re- arrested. He said that the accused has been convicted and sentenced to 24 months in jail for escape from lawful detention.
In their testimony, Zziwa's relatives told court that Zziwa met his death while escorting a stranger to the police station. The man who identified himself as a student of Erussi secondary school stormed Zziwa's home in the night. After failing to give the proper identities, Zziwa decided to take the stranger to the police. He however didn't return back home and was found dead in the morning.
