Kabale district local government has been blamed for the collapse of the Hamurwa floating bridge.
Godfrey Ahabwe Pereza, the Rubanda East Member of Parliament, says the district leaders should be held liable for contributing to the mismanagement of the bridge.
He says that the authorities failed to manage the road toll fees which should have contributed to the much needed repairs on the bridge.

Earlier, Kanungu district leaders accused the Hamurwa county authorities of swindling the money that has been collected in road toll.
Chris Baryomunsi, the Kinkizi East Member of Parliament, says the authorities must account for that money.

The Kabale district Finance secretary, Lawrence Ruhanganiwagaba, says the district is not liable for any wrongdoing. He however declined to explain the circumstances under which the county took over the management of the road toll fees, but hastened to add that the accounts are open for scrutiny.
