Woman Arrested for Dumping her New Born Baby in a Pit Latrine

Crime
A young woman in Kyenjojo has been arrested for dumping her newborn baby girl in a pit latrine.
Grace Kemigisa of Nyaibanda in Nyantugo sub-county reportedly gave birth on April 29th and killed their baby shortly thereafter. The officer in charge of criminal investigations in Kyenjojo, John Gahwa, says Kemigisa's family and neighbors, learning of the baby's fate, demolished the pit latrine to save the infant, but were too late to rescue her from death.
Officer Gahwa says Kemigisa was found hiding in the home of one of her friends and was taken to Kyenjojo Police Station. She admitted to dumping her child in the pit latrine, claiming that she had no money to care for the child.
The suspect will be charged with murder this week.
