FDC Party Chief Mobilizer in Kumi Killed

Crime
Yusuf Oyuria, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party chief mobilizer has been shot and killed.
Oyuria was ambushed by unknown assailants at 8:30pm on his way home in Osioda village, a kilometer away from Kumi town center. His car was sprayed with bullets which also shattered his limbs.
Oyuria died of excessive bleeding, shortly after he was admitted at Ongino government hospital.
Joseph Ochen, the acting Kumi District Police Chief, says police are investigating the motive of the murder.
FDC party members in Kumi however believe that Oyuria's murder was politically motivated.
Agnes Akiror, the Kumi Woman Member of Parliament, says the murder was a result of premeditated plan because the assailants carried out the attack in the evening in an area that is within the town council.
Oyuria formerly worked as a mobilizer with Reform Agenda during the 2001 presidential elections and later joined Forum for Democratic Change.
