High Court adjourns Besigye-Court Martial case to Monday 12

News
Hearing of a case in which government is seeking to stop proceedings of the case that Besigye's lawyers filed against the General Court Martial has been adjourned to Monday 12.

High Court Judge Remmy Kasule adjourned the case yesterday afternoon and said he will make the ruling on Monday December 12

Joseph Matsiko representing the Attorney General said the Constitutional Court should first decide whether the High Court has powers over the General Court Martial before the case can be heard.

The High Court last week issued temporally order to halt the proceedings of a General Court Martial case against jailed opposition leader, Kiiza Besigye.

Besigye is charged with treason and illegal possession of firearms in the case before the General Court Martial.

Besigye's lawyers, John Matovu and Muhammad Mbabazi said that there's no need to seek interpretation of the law from Constitutional Court.
