LRA Fails to Retrieve Weapons in Western Equatorial State

News
Gulu district resident Commissioner, Rtd. Col. Walter Ochora says the LRA have unsuccessfully attempted to retrieve their weapons buried in the Western Equatorial Region in South Sudan.

The RDC says that the Chadian Rebel Commanders who were said to be in contact with the fugitive LRA leader Joseph Kony, refused to give Kony ammunition for renewing offensive against the Ugandan Government.

He said Kony was last week forced to send one of his Commanders to un-earth weapons and ammunitions the rebel buried in Western Equatorial State at the height of the offensive against the rebel bases in South Sudan.

Ochora identified the Commander as Brigadier Abudema.

Abudema was instructed to unearth the weapons, abduct youth from South Sudan to be trained into fresh fighters and loot food stuffs.

But, the plan failed after the group was repulsed by South Sudanese forces, in close collaboration with UPDF forces.

Ochora said the UPDF intelligent Network learnt of the rebel Cache after intercepting a phone message of the rebel group.

Captain Ronald Kakurungu, the UPDF Spokesperson in Northern Uganda, said the LRA fighters were repulsed and forced to retreat to Nabanga in Eastern jungle of DR Congo.

He says the UPDF is on high alert at the Uganda Sudan border and any attempt by the LRA to re-enter Uganda would be beaten off.
