Police in Kasese are investigating the circumstances under which more than 80 million shillings went missing from the south Rwenzori diocese coffers.
The matter was brought to the attention of the police by Rev. Canon Ivan Sibirondire, the South Rwenzori Diocesan Secretary.
According to the diocesan secretary, the money which was accrued from offertories went missing from the diocesan offices in Kasese.
He however suspects that the money could have been stolen by two teenagers who were hired to clean the premises.
The two teenagers whose identities have not been disclosed for purposes of investigations have reportedly gone into hiding.
The Kasese Community Liaisons officer, Elly Maate, says that the police are investigating the whereabouts of the two teenagers.
