Spare Parts Dealer Nabbed for Impersonation

Crime
Security operatives at Malaba border post have nabbed a Kampala vehicle spare parts dealer, who has been pausing as a UPDF lieutenant to con money from importers.
Dickens Olinga Otita, a resident of Kisalosalo in Kyebando, has been pausing as a UPDF lieutenant attached to the disbanded Special Revenue Protection Services (SPRS).
He was arrested on Friday, while putting on a full army uniform with the pips of a lieutenant.
Otita is suspected to have been staging illegal road blocks along the Malaba-Jinja Highway to extort money from unsuspecting businessmen under the guise of working for SPRS.
Captain Henry Obbo, the Eastern Uganda Army Spokesperson, says Otita's luck ran out when a team of counter-intelligence operatives got suspicious of an army officer who had violated the army's dressing code by putting ceremonial pips on a combat uniform
Obbo says the operatives were later stunned to discover that the army officer they had arrested was actually a conman.
