Amuria Councillor Arrested for Torching IDP huts

Police in Amuria district are investigating the circumstances under which the chairperson of Asamuk Sub County in Amuria district torched several houses in an Internally Displaced Peoples camp.
Henry Abaiki Opolot is accused of burning down 11 huts for reasons only known to him.
Abaiki's action drew rage from a lot of people who hunted for the chairman and threatened to lynch him.
Abaiki was rescued from the angry mob by the police and whisked to the police station where he is being detained.
Peter Onencan, the district police commander, says it still remains unclear as to why Abaiki decided to torch the huts.
