Zone 5 U-18 Basket Ball Qualifiers Kicks off at Lugogo

The Africa Zone 5 under 18 basketball championships, has kicked off this morning at Lugogo Indoor Stadium, in Kampala.
By Sunday evening, only 3 out of the expected 8 teams had arrived for the games. The three are Burundi, Rwanda and Sudan.
The Sudan contingent of 12 players, five officials and one referee arrived on Sunday Morning.
Sande Manana, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations, organizing Secretary, said the best team in each of the categories will proceed to Cairo, Egypt for the continental championships later this year.
The tournament will run up to Friday, featuring three games per day in the preliminary rounds.
Meanwhile, the empires' clinic that ended on Sunday saw seven Uganda umpires clinch the zonal status of umpiring.
The seven are Edward Sendikaddiwa, Tom Ocamringa, Peter Wandukwa, Imelda Nyengesa, Sam Bahwayo, Mande Baker and Geoffrey Ssemanda.
