Kyenjojo Head Teachers under Probe over UPE Funds

News
More than 50 head teachers in Kyenjojo district are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the misuse of the UPE funds.
The investigation stems from reports that more than 100 million shillings meant for UPE program support in Kyenjojo district remains unaccounted for.
Albert Masiko, the Chief Administrative Officer, says that the money under question was remitted to the school during the 2005/6 and 2007/08 financial years.
But headmasters in more than 50 schools have so far failed to provide an explanation on how the money was spent.
The CAO has issued a one week ultimatum, ordering the head teachers to either submit an accountability report to the CAO's office or face an investigation.
The CAO says any head teachers who will be found to have misused or misappropriated the money will be forced to pay it back and might be interdicted.
