CECAFA chief decries standards of East African football

Sport
The secretary general of the Confederation of East and Central African Football Association [CECAFA] Nicholas Musonye is concerned on the standards of football in the East African region.
Musonye says he is disappointed with the performance of most East African youth teams this year.
The Rwandan junior team that will play host to the tournament is the only East African team that has qualified for next year's African youth championship in Kigali in January.
There will be no team from East Africa in this year's youth championship in Algeria.

He said the federation must make deliberate efforts to embrace youth football because it is the future of football Worldwide without which the entire sport is doomed.
Musonye however say all is not lost since there are 3 teams from East Africa that have reached the World cup qualifying round. The teams include Rwanda, Kenya and Sudan.
He said CECAFA has laid ground to enable East African teams from Rwanda playing host to the African Youth championship.
