More than 600 million shillings has been earmarked for the renovation of Kicwamba Technical College in Kabarole district.
The college was vandalized ten years ago following an attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
In October 1998 the rebels attacked the school, burnt 83 students to death and abducted some students. The rebels also set ablaze the dormitories, classes and administration block.
Shortly after the rebel attack, President Yoweri Museveni visited the college and pledged governments' commitment to renovate the school buildings.
Joram Adutu, the Principal Kicwamba Technical college says that government has disbursed the money. He says some of the money will be used renovate three dormitories that were burnt down by the rebels. Some of the money will also be used to construct more class rooms, 23 staff houses and another administration block.
Adutu also says that the administration plans to construct a stronger perimeter wall to keep off people who have been encroaching on the college's land.
Adutu says that renovation and construction will start in January 2009.
