Players in the new super league entrants Bugerere Football Club are playing under difficult conditions after going without payment for the passed four months. A senior player in the Ntegeru based football team speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of annoying club officials', claims that they have only received payment for one month since the league kicked off.
The first round of the super league is soon coming to an end. According to the player they are not certain whether the shs 200,000 they received is their payment for the entire first round of the season. When reached for comment Okello Moses, the Bugerere team captain who is on his senior six vacation could neither confirm nor deny the allegation.
Okello says that at first the club had informed the player that it will not be in position to pay them since the available resources had be spent on erecting a perimeter fence at their Ntenjeru play ground. He however says they were later given some money that he declines to reveal.
Okello is however happy that all players are given accommodation at Ntenjeru yet they are also paid a winning bonus of 150,000 shillings. He says for a draw they are given a bonus of 10,000 shillings. Unfortunately the second bottom placed team has only managed a single win and forced four draws in sixteen games.
Badru Ssentongo the proprietor of Bugerere football club says that the financial constraints faced by his team characterise most of the new clubs. On the performance of his team Ssentongo says he is to introduce new players. He claims to have acquired services of Kakembo Badru from Nalubaale who is now training with the rest of the team and former express midfielder Kakaire Appolo who has been playing in Malaysia.
He said this shortly after his team was thumped by sports club villa. Bugerere FC lost to Villa at Namboole stadium 3-1. Bugerere took the lead in the eighth minute but two poor goalkeeping errors by Magunda Eriya made the team concede two goals. Franco Balabala Franco scored an own goal after a goal mouth melee.
