Army down plays Karimojong threats

News
The UPDF has downplayed threats issued by karimojong warriors to launch an armed conflict in the region.
Third Division spokesperson Captain Henry Obbo says the threats are simply ignorable. He says intelligence does not point to any threat on the ground in the region.
He however warns warriors to avoid using the language of war saying it is criminal to declare an armed conflict against a democratically elected government.
He says the UPDF will not hesitate to apprehend such people. Obbo says the warriors do not have the capacity to accomplish such a mission.
The army's reaction stems from a threat issued by a section of Karimojong warriors to wage an armed conflict in the region if government does not address famine and poverty in Karamoja.
