Express Football Club is to establish a tournament in remembrance of its top female fan the late Baker Kazibwe Namyalo fondly referred to as Mama Baker. The Mama Baker cup will be in recognition of the late's contribution to the development of Uganda's football.
The manager Express football club Namuguzi Katerega says the Mama Baker tournament is to be held annual on Nov 25. The tournament will draw teams from supporters of the various clubs in the country.
Ruth Namukasa the sister to Mama Baker has welcomed the idea of starting a tournament.
She says the tournament will help them raise funds to settle debts left behind the deceased. Namukasa who does not disclose the exact amount of debts says there are many financial obligations the family has to settle with external support.
The Katwe Martyrs parish priest Fredrick Lubega, where Mama Baker has been attending church services says the country has lost a person of integrity at a time when there is a lot of moral decay in society. He says there is need for the country to return to the ways of the country's fore fathers who made great contributions to development.
Mama Baker, a former Express FC and Uganda Cranes died hard passed on this week at Mulago Nation referral hospital. She died of hypertension. She is survived by four children Musoke James, Maria Ssempijja, Nalumu Sylvia and Kalema Samuel. Burial is today at 4:00pm Khona Zone, Wakiso district.
