Two People Die from Consuming Food Contaminated with Feces

Health
Two people in Mbale town have been killed by food poisoning directly related to the presence of human fecal waste in their food.

The deceased, Magombe Mukono and George Nandeje, were residents of Moni Ward in Mbale. Two other residents of the same area have been diagnosed with food poisoning and are admitted in Busiu Health Center along Mbale-Tororo road.

Sikola Akello, the Senior Health Officer of Wanale Division, in which Moni Ward is located, said the Mukono and Nandeje had severe vomiting and diarrhea prior to their death. Akello said it was first suspected that they may have been victims of cholera, but further investigations showed that they died from poisoning caused by consumption of human waste.
