20 Mbale Residents Arrested for Ritual Murder

Crime
20 Mbale residents have been arrested for allegedly taking part in the ritual murder of a woman.
Ibbin Ssekumbi, the Eastern Uganda regional police spokesperson, says the suspects are believed to have murdered an unidentified woman in Kasasira village in Pallisa district. He says the murder was masterminded by Issa Waibi, a resident of Kasasira village who intended to bury the head of the dead woman in the foundation of his new maize mill.
According to police documents, Waibi lured the victim to his home in Kasasira village on March 4th and introduced her to his family as his second wife. The woman was not allowed to leave the house until March 6th, when it is believed she was murdered.
Ssekumbi says the matter came to the attention of the police when Waibi's children told some of their schoolmates about the dead woman found lying near their house.
