A police Constable who accompanied a colleague to shoot and kill a suspect in Lyantonde town has been arrested. SPC Javerio Bujingo was arrested last night when police learnt that he was on the scene when his colleague shot and killed a suspect.
William Panuha, the Southern Region CID officer says SPC Bujingo is an accomplice who guided his colleague to commit murder. The real shooter, Edward Mpanga is still at large and police have no clue where he could be hiding with his gun.
Panuha says police has dispatched spies to hunt for both Edward Mpanga and Bule Muhangi the LC1 chairman who ordered the arrest of the suspect that was killed.
Both the shooter, Edward Mpanga and his colleague Javerio Bujingo are suspected to have been drunk at a time of the shooting.
The victim, James Majimbi, was buried at Kigando village, Kaliiro Sub County, Lyantonde district. Majimbi is survived by a widow and seven children the eldest daughter is a senior three student.
Police sent a delegation led by Christopher Buwule, the Southern Region Police Commander at Magimbi's burial. Buwule presented a contribution of 600,000Shillings for burial expenses. In addition, police pledged to pay fees for Bujimbi's eldest daughter.
