Katakwi district is to conduct a public inquest into the conduct of judicial officers in the district.
Stephen Ekongot, the LC5 Chairperson, says the inquiry which will be conducted in various Sub-counties follow several complaints lodged by locals at the district on the conduct of judicial officers.
Ekongot says the complaints range from bribery to denying the common man justice. He says it has become increasingly difficulty for the common man in Katakwi to receive justice without paying a hefty bribe.
He says the evidence which will be gathered during the public hearings will be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs for appropriate action.
The Attorney General, Khidu Makubuya, when contacted said he needed time to interpret the law on whether it is within the law for a local council to investigate judicial officers.
