Tullow Strikes Oil with 7th Successful Drill

Business
Tullow Oil has announced another sizeable oil find in the Lake Albert valley in Western Uganda.
A statement from the oil exploration company says it has discovered food quality oil in the Nsoga-1 well near Butiaba port in Hoima. The discovery follows another one made by Tullow in early January, when the company announced its largest discovery of oil made in the Albertine valley.
Tullow says it encountered 12 meters of thin-bedded oil bearing sands. This is an indication that the Nsoga-1 well may have deeper oil water contacts based on seismic pressures.
Nsoga-1 is the seventh successful test within the Lake Albert Rift Basin.
Angus McCoss, Exploration Director of Tullow Oil, says the successful drilling improves prospects of other nearby wells which are scheduled for drilling later this year. He says it is a continuation of the company's 100% success rate in Uganda and our proven exploration methods.
Production of oil for commercial purposes is expected to begin in Uganda next year.
