13 people survived death last night when their boat capsized on Lake Albert.
Yitzhak Ocichani, chairperson of the Beach Management Unit at Kyehoro landing site in Hoima, says the accident occurred at about 9 p.m. He says the boat traveling from Panyimur in Nebbi to Kyehoro capsized during a rainstorm.
All the 13 passengers onboard the small boat survived, making it to the shore in the middle of the rain. However all their merchandise sunk to the bottom of Lake Albert.
The boat belonged to Joa Leko a businessman from Nsonga landing site in Kyangwali sub-county.
This is the third boat accident on Lake Albert since the year begun.
In March four people were killed when a fishing boat sunk off Ntoroko landing site in Bundibugyo. In April a police marine boat capsized on Lake Albert near Kaiso landing site. All five marine officers on board were rescued by the Lake Rescue Station.
