Kitgum College bans use of Mobile Phones

News
Kitgum Core Primary Teachers' College has banned students from using mobile at the school.
Simon Okwir, the principle of the college says that the ban stems from a letter issued to schools by the Inspector General of Police to improve safety and security of their students.
He says that they wrote to parents at the end of last term not to buy phones for the students. Okwir says that some students have been using cell phones to call strangers to the schools premises during odd hours.

However, some of the students say the ban on using mobile phones in college is outrageous. Robin Komakech a second year student at the school says it is irrational to ban the use of phones.
Komakech says some students come from distant districts and use the phones to call their families for assistance.
Grace Adongpiny a first year student notes the phone makes it easy for her to contact her parents and friends when she is in need.
