The army has shot and killed ten cattle rustlers following two foiled raids on protected kraals in Kotido district.
The ten were part of a gang of Mathenikio cattle rustlers who yesterday made a daring daytime raid on kraals protected by UPDF soldiers in Ayang-yang and Kaceri in Kotido.
Capt. Henry Obbo, the Third Division Army Spokesperson, says the group attacked the kraal and attempted to take off with more than three hundred heads of cattle. He says the army engaged the rustlers in a fierce fire fight and recovered all the cattle.
During the fight, ten warriors were killed on spot and three UPDF soldiers were injured one of them critically.

Obbo says more warriors could have been killed or injured basing on trails of blood left behind by the fleeing warriors.
The clash follows another deadly one which happened last week in Nakapirpirit district where Kenyan Pokot warriors killed two UPDF soldiers. The warriors are reported to have overpowered the soldiers before crossing back to Kenya.
In other news, suspected Dinka warriors from Sudan have also shot and killed an unidentified man near Kidepo National Game Park.
The body was recovered this morning by the army.
