Police in Hoima have arrested three men in connection with an anti-Kabaka demonstration.
Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi of Buganda Kingdom is expected to visit Ndaiga in a few days time. But his planned visit has already generated a lot of Anti-Buganda sentiments with mass protests planned ahead of his visit.
Police has swung into action and has already nabbed some people suspected to be masterminding the planned protests.
Some of the suspects arrested so far are Mustapha Asimwe, Silver Mugenyi and Peter Akuguzibwe.
The three men were rounded up by Police this morning from a house in Kasingo village in Hoima.
Diana Nandawula, the Midwestern Police spokesperson, says the police recovered several machetes and iron bars from the house, where the suspects were meeting to plan their attack. She says that the suspects are believed to be part of a larger group that is planning to disrupt the Kabaka's visit to Ndaiga.
Police are still hunting for the ring leaders.
Nandaula says the three suspects will be charged with posession of dangerous weapons.
Tension is rising between the indigenous Banyoro and Baganda immigrants in Bunyoro. The Banyoro accuse the Baganda immigrants of grabbing their land.
