An eight year old boy, who was picked up for murder in Oyam, has been reunited with his family after spending five months in Police custody.
The boy, whose identity can not be released because he is a minor, was picked up by police on February 5th this year, for stabbing to death Innocent Opio, his 12 year-old play mate.
The boy was released on Sunday last week after his family agreed to compensate the family of Opio, in a deal brokered by the Lango Peace forum.
Felix Odwe, an Uncle to the accused boy says that they are close to settling the 7 heads of cattle and 600,000 shillings demanded by Opio's family.
He says that they are now arranging to have the boy sent to school. Sam Okot, the Oyam District Police Commander says that the police was only holding the boy for safe custody.
According to the Penal Code, the accused can not be charged in court for any crime because he is a minor.
