Sulaiman Ali, an Asian businessman in Mbarara has been arrested for conniving with two Ugandans, Rashid Katerega and David Mulyemere, still at large, to rob a local contractor of 6 million shillings.
Johnson Katushabe the contractor had just withdrawn the money from Baroda Bank in Mbarara on Saturday, when Sulaiman's accomplices approached him and offered to give him a lift to Bushenyi.
It is alleged that after jumping in their car, the two told Katushabe that they had to pick their friend in Nyakaizi cell, before setting off for Bushenyi.
On reaching Nyakaizi, Sulaiman offered Katushabe a form to fill in before Katerega and Mulyamere forcefully took his money.
Leuben Mbamanya, the DPC Mbarara says that after stealing his money, the suspects handcuffed Katushabe, locked him in the house before they made off with their loot.
Mbamanya says that Katushabe was set free by Katerega's children who found, him in their house pleading for mercy.
He says that the Police managed to arrest, Sulaiman and will charge him with robbery when investigations are complete.
He says that police are also still hunting for Katerega and Mulyamere.
