A man in Rukungiri has murdered his wife and committed suicide. Vanancio Tukamuhabwa of Rugarama village hacked to death his wife Jane Tumushabe on Sunday night.
It is alleged that Tukamuhabwa murdered his wife following a domestic quarrel. Jane Tumushabe has reportedly been accusing his husband Tuhamuhabwa of running an affair with his step mother.
Billy Baryabasa, the Rukungiri Criminal Investigations chief says that after hacking his wife to death Tukamuhabwa hanged himself on a tree near their home where his body was found by residents who were searching for him to answer the charge of murder.
Luke Tinfayo, one of the residents says that he heard Tumushabe exchange bitterly with her husband before she raised an alarm. Tinfayo says that by the time they rushed to Tumuhabwe's house they found his wife dead.
The gruesome murder comes only a week after another man hacked his wife and 3 weeks old baby in Nyarushanje Sub County after he suspected her of having an affair with his neighbor.
